Heat Wave

Hey everyone coming back at you with another week here in Oregon. But let me tell you this week has been HOT! Especially the last couple days. It has gotten up to 107 and doesn't cool off until like 5 in the morning but by that time it's getting hot again. To make it even better our AC units start to work so hard it flips the breakers. Yep 1st world problems.

Today for Pday we went to the temple that was fun. Then me and Elder Thompson (a roommate) went to the stake center and played basketball as the rest of the zone played dungeons and dragons.  But let me tell you we were playing "21" I was winning 20-0 and then I managed to lose. 20-21. Take me back to my glory days, might as well have been playing Panguitch in basketball...

But we had transfers this week. Sadly elder Silver left for his last transfer as well. He is companions with one of my other previous comps (elder crum) My new comp is elder Cotton he is a good guy. He used to be one of the office elders for like 14 months so he has some interesting ideas but he's a good missionary. It should be a good transfer. Elder Cotton is from Orem Utah and is a big computer guy, has been working on the Facebook page his whole mission. So I am learning a lot about that because I am not very good at the whole Facebook thing.

Some amazing members in the Forest Park ward introduced us to some of their friends from Haiti. Saul, Junot, and Andris.

They are so awesome they are so open to the gospel. They speak English alright but there is definitely a language barrier. But we taught them Friday night and they came to church the next Sunday! They seem to be understanding everything pretty well and should be baptized this transfer! So please pray for them.

I am running out of time but this is the spiritual thought for the week.

Mosiah 4:30 this is again King Benjamin. If you can't tell I'm a big fan of his.

"But this much I can tell you, that if ye do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and your words, and your deeds, and observe the commandments of God, and continue in the faith of what ye have heard concerning the coming of our Lord, even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish. And now, O man, remember, and perish not."

I know sometimes it's easy to get hard on ourselves and think we aren't good enough for the Kingdom of God and some may read this and think that same thing. We are simply not perfect. But what King Benjamin teaches is for you to watch them not hide them. Our Heavenly Father wants us to try. Have the faith to try a little harder, to take another step, or maybe ask for some help. We each have our own sins, and if you think that Christ doesn't know that, think again.  I promise you that He stands ready for you to turn to him. So this week watch for how you can try a little harder to come closer to our Heavenly Father! God bless you all.

Love

-Elder Esplin
